This Is Our Story
this is our story
What is now a stunning example of west coast design, perched on beautiful Cordova Bay Beach began as an ice cream stand and general store in the early 1920s and evolved to a hot spot for dinner and dancing in the 1940s. Known then as McMorran’s Pavillion and run by the McMorran family for generations, it was the fashionable place for dining, dancing and celebrations of all kinds. Our parents and grandparents jitterbugged, jived, danced the Twist and performed disco moves on the maple-sprung dance floors. Over the decades until 2008, McMorran’s Beach House hosted hundreds of celebrations, weddings and gatherings including legendary New Year’s Eve Galas and spectacular buffets.
Today, the Beach House continues the legacy of McMorran’s by embracing its history. The famous maple-wood floors, have been refinished, a 1940s bottle of whisky found in the roof rafters found a new home in the belly of contemporary iron sculpture of a fish that hangs above the bar. Even an old pine table from the McMorran’s kitchen and the original grand piano from the dining room have been lovingly restored and are being used today.
With its stunning ocean vistas and views down Cordova Bay beach, patrons will enjoy amazing west coast fare in a comfortably elegant setting. Bon appetite!

We start with our amazing thin crust, add our secret tomato sauce and then lovingly layer the freshest of ingredients. The result – a delectable, old-school pizza that would make Mama blush with pride.Salads to die for.
We sound like a broken record but our secret is in our fresh, locally-sourced (where possible) ingredients. To keep you coming back for more, we top our salads off with our house-made dressings.Fresh fish, straight from the boat.
Our fish couldn’t get any fresher if we went out and caught it ourselves. Hand selected and prepared with care, our halibut, cod or salmon dishes are absolutely delectable.Dare we say the best damn chicken burger you’ll ever have.

You’ll feel like your about to set sail on a luxurious cruise line when you dine in our elegant bistro. The stunning room, elevated just metres from the beach below, is the perfect setting for any occasion. Our menu changes daily with the Catch of the Day and the seasonal offerings of local producers.
